Hans P. Kraus Jr. Inc., established in New York in 1984, is a dealer in nineteenth- and early twentieth-century photographs.
The gallery is located on Park Avenue at 82nd Street, two blocks from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The gallery is recognized for representing the work of William Henry Fox Talbot, who announced his invention of photography in 1839. Exhibitions are dedicated to important pioneers including Talbot, Gustave Le Gray, John Beasley Greene, Roger Fenton, Julia Margaret Cameron, Hill & Adamson, Captain Linnaeus Tripe, Charles Nègre, John Ruskin, and Joseph, vicomte Vigier. Hans Kraus Fine Photographs also shows the work of Pictorialist photographers Edward Steichen, Frederick H. Evans, and Alvin Langdon Coburn, amongst others and is pleased to present select work by contemporary artists who have been inspired by the history of the medium, including Adam Fuss and Hiroshi Sugimoto.
Hans P. Kraus Jr. Inc. is a member of the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) and the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD).
The gallery has three exhibitions annually and participates in international art fairs including Paris Photo and the AIPAD Photography Show.
Publications include monographs and catalogues under the series title Sun Pictures.
